Amy André: I am a bisexual, bi-racial woman with a Haitian
father and white American mother. I have a master's degree in
sexuality studies from San Francisco State University and work as a
sexuality educator and author. I've had years of experience teaching
about sex, which comes from giving presentations and lectures to
many great organizations and universities, including the San
Francisco Department of Public Health, University of California --
San Francisco medical school, California State University -- East
Bay, the Women's Community Clinic, San Francisco State University,
and the University of Massachusetts.
I have published essays in books such as Nobody Passes: Rejecting
the Rules of Gender and Conformity, Waking Up American: Coming of
Age Bi-culturally, and Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the
World.
My articles have appeared in magazines, newspapers, and on the web,
including AlterNet, Curve Magazine, ColorLines Magazine, American
Sexuality, Girlfriends Magazine, the Bay Times, and the Bay Area
Reporter. I also run two websites:
www.AmyAndre.com and www.
DearAmy.net.
I live in the beautiful city of San Francisco, where I share a home
with my partner, a filmmaker and women's studies professor. In my
spare time, I am an active member of the bisexual community and work
to promote visibility and social justice for bisexual people
everywhere.
